Homemade Hot Pack
by Patrick J. Dumont, L.Ac.

Any sore, achy or tight muscle likes some heat and some pressure. An easy to make, easy to use, Hot Pack will prove invaluable and will provide both heat and light pressure.

What you will need
White cotton sock, clean
White rice (enough to fill the sock)

How to make the Hot Pack
Place the rice inside the cotton sock. Do not overfill. Leave room for the sock to be flexible and droopy.
Sow, or tie, the open end of the sock shut.

How to use
Place the rice filled sock in the microwave.

WARNING: Do not overheat. May cause burns. Use this at your own risk.

Heat the rice filled sock for 1.5 to 3 minutes (depending on the microwave, the time will vary to heat the sock to a very warm, but not scalding temperature). always test the temperature of the Hot Pack before using.

Once the sock is heated to a tolerable warm temperature, place it on the sore or tight muscle until it cools down. This can be repeated once or twice daily.

If the problem does not resolve within a 5 to 7 days, contact a qualified health care professional.

The HOT PACK can be used for any sore, tight or achy muscle
