Acupuncture and Moxibustion

What is Acupuncture and Moxibustion?

Very fine needles may be inserted just beneath the surface of the skin at a variety of points on the body to rebalance the patients Qi, or internal energy.

Unlike allopathic medical needles, acupuncture needles do not draw blood and have only a comparatively slight sensation on insertion.  Moxibustion is a technique of burning small amounts of the herb Artemisia vulgaris, the common mugwort plant, on acupuncture points to infuse the point with energy.

Both of these techniques are intended to directly rebalance the patients Qi, and thereby lead to the reduction or avoidance of symptoms.
